Short Courses

We offer short courses for adults in the community to learn more about routes into construction and tips and ideas for home improvement. Courses are offered during the day, evening and weekends. Some of our most popular courses include:

DIY for women – We run a range of courses aimed specifically at women that will help you tackle basic home maintenance tasks confidently. Each course provides an opportunity to gain skills in:

• Basic plumbing

• Using power tools

• Putting up shelves

• Tiling and flooring

• Light fittings and fixtures

 

DIY – These are open courses for men and women that will develop your DIY skills. Areas covered on the course include:

• Basic plumbing

• Using power tools

• Putting up shelves

• Tiling and flooring

• Light fittings and fixtures

 

Energy Efficiency – Our energy efficiency courses look at how you can save energy in the home and reduce your energy bills. We specifically look at:

• Low-cost draught proofing and insulation methods

• Saving money by managing heating controls effectively

• Tackling condensation and mould issues

• Switching energy providers and available support for those struggling to pay energy bills.

 

Home Improvement – The home improvement course is open to adults interested in improving their home or property. It is packed with ideas, information and techniques for making the home that you really want. The home improvement course covers:

• Finding tradespeople to do work and how to engage them

• Designing the look and layout of your home

• Replacing locks

• Dealing with rodent infestations

• Disposing of waste materials

• Simple maintenance tasks and how to do them

• 4-day home maintenance delivered over 2 weekends or a mix of evenings. £485.00

• 1 day Power and hand tools with wall fixings- weekend course- £85.00

• 4-day bathroom course (including tiling) delivered over 2 weekends or a mix of evenings. £470.00

• 2-day CSCS Level 1 safety qualification-test and card over 2 days -£230.00

• Bricklayer course for beginners- £195.00

• Build a garden return wall -£195.00.

• 2-day carpentry course for beginners, door hinges, locks, handles, mitre joints and power tools. -weekend course- £195.00

• 2-day DIY course delivered over 2 days -£195.00

 

Free courses:

Taster session- all trades/repairs-Brick, electric, plumbing, tiling and careers. 1.5 hours.
